Levain Bakery, founded in 1995 by Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, is renowned for its decadent, freshly-baked cookies. The bakery originated as a small bread shop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and quickly gained popularity for its generously portioned chocolate-chip walnut cookies. These palm-sized, 6-oz cookies were initially created to provide energy for the founders during their triathlon training. Today, Levain Bakery has expanded to 10 stores and offers its cookies online, along with a frozen-cookie retail product. The bakery is famous for its giant and gooey cookies, available in five flavors: Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Two Chip Chocolate Chip, and Oatmeal Raisin.
